Buzz set to be next big ad trend

Word from is that consumer generated media is set to be “the next big wave in advertising,” according to Jonathan Carson, chief executive of Nielsen Online International, and much of it will be negative. Speaking at the Media & Marketing conference in the UK earlier this month, Carson warned that consumer’s trust in traditional advertising was eroding, paving the way for more reliance on word-of-mouth and consumer opinions online. He added that the ‘buzz’ generated around products by consumers was becoming a key form or marketing set to get even bigger as consumers and marketers continued to tap into it.
