The Social Shopper

There was a recent article in AdWeek quoting a study by Gartner that said there are two types of online shoppers: Solo shoppers who want something quickly, and “social” shoppers who look for a pleasant experience and emotional connection through such things as bulletin boards, blogs, reviews and shared videos.

The article says in part, “In order to appeal to social shoppers, analyst Ray Valdes, who oversaw the study, recommended sites adopt four characteristics: an extremely simple buying process; a seamless blending of shopping and nonshopping activities; free-form information not controlled by one vendor; and information and links to other vendor locations.”

The question is what do you think? Do you agree that creating these social aspects to a site will engage some customers?
